Retinol Vs. Bakuchiol, the Natural Alternative to Retinol

What is retinol anyways? Retinol is a synthetic derivative of Vitamin A, and an ingredient you can find in almost every skincare product on the market. It works by enhancing collagen production and accelerating skin renewal, helping to reduce the impurities of your complexion that come with old age. Retinol is used to refine your skin, cure dark spots, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance radiation.

Retinol is a great ingredient that works wonders in the skincare world, except for one thing: everyone’s skin is different and reacts accordingly. Since retinol is such a powerful ingredient, it can easily irritate the skin causing it to redden or peel. So, it of course isn’t for everyone.

But we all want ageless beauty! And we shouldn’t have to burn our skin or turn to Botox for it. That’s why we’ve chosen to use the natural alternative, Bakuchiol, a gentler ingredient that works wonders on sensitive skin. Think of it as the Whole Foods of grocery stores, it’s clean, healthy, and keeps you fed.

Bakuchiol is a compound found in the seeds of the Indian plant Psoralea Corylifolia. The way Bakuchiol regulates collagen properties is extremely similar to retinol, and studies have proved to show improvements in every single category, tackling fine lines, wrinkles, roughness, dryness, elasticity, and more. In fact, a recent study in the British Journal of Dermatology found that bakuchiol decreased fine lines and pigmentation at the same rate as retinol. What they didn’t see, however, was the initial irritation and dry, flaky skin that is a common side effect of someone first introducing retinol into their routine.

So, Bakuchiol is a G.od send for people with sensitive skin, and maybe just better all around? Our company is all about natural, wholesome ingredients; so of course, we stand by naturally derived ingredients over synthetic ones. If these gentle ingredients work well with sensitive skin, then they are a safe bet for all skin types. Just remember that if something burns, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s working. These powerful man-made ingredients weren’t made for our bodies, and turning to nature is a much healthier, safe and effective way of curing your skin both short and long-term.
